About Amanzi Adventures

Born in South Africa and based in Amsterdam for over twelve years, my background was originally far removed from the ocean, working full-time in banking and finance. Diving entered my life in 2015 during a trip to Hurghada, Egypt, where my wife first introduced me to scuba diving.

On my very first open water dive, a pod of dolphins passed by, calm, effortless, completely at home. That moment stayed with me. I completed my referral training in Amsterdam and finished my Open Water certification in Egypt, and what began as curiosity grew into a deeper respect for the underwater world.

In 2022, my wife and I completed our Divemaster training in Utila, Honduras, followed by teaching in Koh Tao and freelancing as an instructor in Amsterdam. Diving in different environments and working with a wide range of students shaped my approach, one built on strong fundamentals, patience, and calm confidence in the water.

Now based in Simon’s Town, Amanzi Adventures brings that journey together. Amanzi means “water” in several Southern African languages, and it reflects the heart of this project, learning to move with confidence and respect in an environment that demands both. My goal is to pass on knowledge in a thoughtful, unhurried way, helping divers feel capable, comfortable, and truly at home in the water.
